11 years ago today......
I was married in Sacramento, CA. An evening wedding with an Italian flair, simple string quartet, dupioni silk dress, horse and carriage, dinner for 45 friends and family all on Memorial weekend. Today was our 4007th day of marriage. (Not sure if the number is exact, wouldn't matter if I was off a day or two, it just feels real strong) Most women would probably cringe at how I spent my anniversary today. I kissed my husband as he drove off to play Airsoft (army man...Oh think what ever you want to think), talked with my mom on the phone, played some games with our four year old on the computer. I talked on the phone again, this time with my husband’s best friend. Then I did some laundry and cleaned the kitchen. Once cleaned, I decided to make some homemade, french fried, potato chips and hot dogs for lunch. Around then my son, who is ten, came home from spending the night at his friend’s house, with same said friend in tow. My phone then rings and my neighbor’s daughter wants to come over and play. Now I have four children in my house. Food is served and the french fried potatoes are consumed with speed along with hot dogs and mass amounts of catsup. Husband's best friend calls back, since working close to our home, he askes to stop by. My husband and his friend arrive at same time...now there are four kids and three adults in my house(it's about 1k sq feet, total) and it's about 5:30 pm. The old man passes out asleep in the living room, my son's friend's mother stops by and picks up her son and my son retreats back to his room and my daughter is back on the computer again with her friend. So my friend and I watched The Maxx out in the garage while having a beer and smoke. He was talking about his current rap sheet in dating and inquiring on my thoughts about his current situation. He eventually departs about 7:30pm heading for home. Told him if we could find a baby-sitter, we would call him and go get some sushi. But too no avail, it is now 11:02 PST and my man is still asleep. Both kids are retired to their rooms. I'm sure the four year old is asleep since she hasn't come out to ask for something to eat or drink, but maybe not. It sure is quiet. This was a good day...a lot was accomplished and there were good times. I'm lucky enough to have a relationship with my husband that I can support him and he supports me, all through out the year. So why require him to make one day any more important than the rest of the days of each and every year. Happy 11th anniversary!
